THE NEW YORK STATE COMMISSION ON NATIONAL & COMMUNITY SERVICE SEEKS APPLICATION REVIEWERS

The New York State Commission has released its Request for Proposals for 2017-18 AmeriCorps grants (Competitive Pool). The Commission expects to receive applications in response to this Request for Proposals in late November 2016. The Commission seeks reviewers who are available to travel to Albany/Rensselaer for a two-day review period on December 6 - 7. Reviewers will be expected to spend two days and one overnight in the Albany/Rensselaer area, working as members of a team to perform the review. Reviewers will be trained, and the review will be facilitated by Commission staff.

The New York State Commission on National and Community Service has issued the 2017-2018 New York State AmeriCorps Request for Proposals (Competitive Pool). Applications are due November 29, 2016.

The training will begin on Wednesday, 10/19 at 1:00pm and will conclude on Friday, 10/21 at 12:30pm. Governor Cuomo Announces More Than $6 Million in Americorps Funding

Grants Will Support Community Programs Designed by 18 Non-Profit Organizations Across New York State

 

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced that New York State has received more than $6 million in competitive AmeriCorps funding to support 18 non-profit organizations that promote children's health and education, work to reduce poverty and expand economic opportunity in their communities. This funding was awarded by the federal Corporation for National and Community Service and is part of a $14 million initiative announced by Governor Cuomo earlier this summer.

Governor Cuomo Announces $14.4 Million in AmeriCorps Funding

Funding Will Support Recruitment of New AmeriCorps Members to 14 Organizations Across New York State

 

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced that New York State has been awarded $14.4 million in AmeriCorps funding for 14 organizations that promote children’s health and education, disaster preparedness and other key initiatives. The funding, provided by the Corporation for National and Community Service, will support the recruitment of new AmeriCorps Members. $8.1 million in competitive grant funds have already been awarded, with an additional $6.3 million in New York State AmeriCorps grants to be announced later this year.

Film Good / Do GoodTM Becomes First Official State Government Partnership in the Nation to Help the Entertainment Industry Combat Hunger and Homelessness

Empire State Development (ESD) and the New York State Commission on National and Community Service today announced the launch of Film Good / Do Good™, a first-of-its-kind partnership that will connect film and television productions with volunteer service opportunities throughout New York State. The program will encourage cast and crewmembers to volunteer at non-profit organizations that are fighting hunger, homelessness and other root causes of poverty in some of the state’s neediest neighborhoods.

Governor Cuomo Launches Excelsior Conservation Corps Environmental Stewardship Program

 

AmeriCorps Program Offers 10-Month Service Experience to Young Adults, Veterans

Governor Cuomo announced the launch of New York State’s Excelsior Conservation Corps, a new AmeriCorps environmental education and stewardship program for 18 to 25 year olds. Once enrolled in the program, members will perform meaningful environmental projects across New York State while gaining hands on-experience and skills in conservation careers.

“The Excelsior Conservation Corps will offer young New Yorkers the opportunity to gain skills and training while addressing some of our state’s most pressing environmental needs,” Governor Cuomo said. "Continuing this state's rich tradition of environmental stewardship, this new initiative will help ensure New York becomes cleaner and greener than ever before."

GOVERNOR CUOMO ANNOUNCES $5.4 MILLION IN AMERICORPS FUNDING

 

Grant Will Support the Governor’s Rochester Anti-Poverty Task Force and Other Critically Important Programs

 

Governor Cuomo announced that New York State has been awarded $5.4 million in AmeriCorps funding from the federal Corporation for National and Community Service. New York will administer this funding to 19 municipalities and non-profit organizations which help at-risk children, homebound seniors, low-income families, and struggling veterans throughout the state.

“This is about putting people and resources on the ground in high-needs communities,” Governor Cuomo said. “By supporting these programs, we are guiding children to academic success, preparing the unemployed to re-enter the workforce, and taking care of those who have served our country.”

Grant will Support 1,440 AmeriCorps Members Serving in 14 Organizations Across New York State

 

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced that New York State has received more than $10.7 million in competitive AmeriCorps funding from the Corporation for National and Community Service, to support organizations that promote children’s health and education, disaster preparedness, and other key initiatives. An additional $6 million will be awarded later this year, bringing the total amount of funding to $16.7 million.
