The New York Power Authority welcomes you to the web page for its St. Lawrence-Franklin D. Roosevelt Power Project Relicensing.
On October 22, 2003, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) voted to issue a new 50-year license for NYPA to continue to operate the St. Lawrence-FDR project. (See FERC's "Order Approving Settlement Agreements, Dismissing Complaint, and Issuing New License" [in .pdf format]).
This new license reflects the terms of NYPA’s license application, filed with FERC on October 31, 2001, and settlement agreements reached between NYPA and relicensing stakeholders, filed with FERC on February 6, 2003.
The next stage in the St. Lawrence-FDR project relicensing will involve compliance with and implementation of these license and settlement agreement terms. Many of the benefits and improvements included as part of NYPA’s relicensing have already begun.
This web page provides detailed information on the St. Lawrence-FDR project and its relicensing, with new initiatives being added frequently. Additional information about NYPA and the many services it provides to New York, including clean, low-cost hydroelectricity from the St. Lawrence-FDR project, is available at: www.nypa.gov.
