 FROM THE SELECTMEN’S OFFICE…….

With the extended drought conditions we are experiencing, we would remind residents to please restrict their usage of water.  Wells, both dug and drilled, are the water source for nearly all Strafford residents.  We hear reports of both types of wells experiencing difficulty in recent days.  We are thankful that many residents are already well aware of the situation and are voluntarily conserving water.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR STRAFFORD PROPERTY OWNERS

The Town's assessing Agent and Assistant will be continuing the process of verifying data on properties that have sold in the past (2) years, in addition to the appraisal of all new construction for ad velorem tax purposes and to check construction that was not complete as of April 2015.  Data verification of all properties within the Town boundaries will continue to be done on a cyclical basis.  Please give them your cooperation in this process.

Please be advised that refusing entry to an assessing agent could jeopardize your right to appeal on your assessment.

 Statistical Revaluation Update

In accordance with New Hampshire State law and with appropriations voted at the 2016 Town Meeting, Strafford has been in the process of undergoing a Statistical Revaluation of all real properties within the Town boundaries.  KRT, the firm contracted to complete this work, is nearly finished.  In early to mid-September property owners will receive a letter from KRT notifying them of their property’s current assessed value.  The letter will also outline the process to follow should owners believe their property value is inaccurate. Informal meetings to discuss property values will be held in mid to late September at the Town Hall; the letter will direct property owners how to schedule an appointment should that be desired.  The Town website, www.strafford.nh.gov, will have updated information concerning the process as it becomes available.  As always, should there be any questions about the process, please feel free to call the Town Office at 664-2192 ext 107.

2016 Statistical Revaluation

The attached information has been provided to the Town of Strafford by KRT who conducted the 2016 Statistical Revaluation.  It should be helpful in understanding how the revaluation was conducted and in assisting taxpayers in reading property tax cards.  Property tax cards are available at the Town Office, by request.  Further revaluation information is available at the Town Hall or from the KRT website.
