Apprenticeship Expansion Grant
DWD will provide up to $700,000 in grants to existing and emerging apprenticeship programs across Indiana. Funds will be given to programs that engage industry and other partners to expand apprenticeships to new non-traditional sectors and new populations, identify ways to promote and advance greater inclusion and diversity in apprenticeships and/or create or expand pre-apprenticeship programs for both youth and adults...read more

DWD Awards $7.7 Million in Skill UP Grants
DWD recently awarded 12 industry-led regional partnerships nearly $7.7 million during the second cycle of the Skill UP Indiana! grant program. The program provides funding to develop training and education programs that align with local employer needs. Awardees will use grant funds to equip Hoosiers with the skills necessary to fill the one million jobs projected to be available over the next decade....view grant recipients

Indiana Private Sector Employment Reaches High Point
Indiana’s unemployment rate remained at 4.5 percent as the national unemployment rate ticked up 0.1 percent to 5 percent in September.  Indiana’s labor force, a measure of Hoosiers employed or seeking employment, has increased by 75,566 since January of this year while total employment has increased by 75,425 during this timeframe. The state’s labor force has increased by nearly 200,000 since January 2013.....read full report

DWD To Fund Local Work Ethic Certification Programs
The Indiana Department of Workforce Development (DWD) will provide grants between $25,000 and $50,000 for the development and adoption of community- and employer-recognized work ethic certification programs in communities throughout Indiana. According to the Indiana Chamber of Commerce's 2016 Employer Survey, sixty-three percent of Hoosier employers cite employability skills as the most challenging characteristics to find in applicants and new hires. The State Workforce Innovation Council (SWIC) developed the Governor’s Work Ethic Certificate (WEC) to address this employability skills gap...learn more

Career and Technical Education (CTE) Utilization Report
DWD and the Indiana Department of Education (DOE) have prepared a CTE Utilization Report that details student enrollment in and completion of secondary CTE courses in the state of Indiana. Public Comment for ETPL Eligibility & Establishment
The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) requires the state to develop a process for training providers to apply and be selected for inclusion on the Eligible Training Provider List (ETPL). The ETPL is a statewide list of providers that have been deemed eligible by the state to receive WIOA training funds. WIOA regulations require the state to provide an opportunity for interested members of the public, including representatives of business and labor organizations, to submit comments on the state’s procedure for determining the eligibility of training providers to be included on the ETPL...learn more
