Welcome To DIME
Data Interchange for Materials Engineering
DIME is a web application developed by the California Department of Transportation, Materials Engineering & Testing Services (METS) to allow material testing laboratories the ability to easily submit sample information and test data to Caltrans' database via the internet.
Vision
To provide a user-friendly web-based interface for storing and sharing material test data.

Submit a request on your company letterhead to get started.
2

Searching for data is made easier. No sign in is required.
Manage User Accounts
Once the manager accounts are created, managers manage their DIME accounts within DIME. Managers won't need to contact Caltrans for adding, editing, or removing of user accounts. This makes it convenience and easy for the managers as their staff changes.
Supports ASTM, AASHTO and CTM Standards
DIME is designed in a way that it is easy to adapt new standards and procedures. DIME supports ASTM, AASHTO, and CTM standards for most of the test procedures that DIME has implemented so far. DIME will obtian and verify user inputs as specify by the selected test standards.
With this, managers are worry-free from incomplete and/or inaccurate data entries.
Generates Electronic Reports and Notifications
No more scrambling file piles and flipping files in the file cabinets trying to look for a test report in your ten years or so of storage. Test results and reports submitted to DIME will be available online in an electronic format. Advanced search functionalities are provided to make finding a test report as easy as clicking a button. Also, no more phone calls and email drafting to send out a test report to notify your RE, SR, or SMR, it is just a matter of a click to email the test report from DIME.
To better align with DIME's Vision: "To provide a user-friendly web-based interface for storing and sharing material test data", DIME will undergo a major update by the end of July 2015.
The most noticeable change with this update will be that all DIME sample data and verified test results will be available to the public on DIME. In other words, a login account will no longer be needed to view sample data and verified test results after the update. Rest assured, the same security measures remain in place for test results that have not been verified.
Since this is a change to the security measures of the sample data and verified test results we would like to give you an opportunity to share with us any concerns you may have before the changes are implemented. Please include the specific elements of data that you might have concerns with in sharing the data with the public. We will take all comments and concerns into great consideration and evaluation.
Additionally, there will be a few minor changes to the navigation of DIME.
Thank you in advance for your understanding and comments.
