Indiana Educator License Lookup

Introduction

NOTE:  The addition of license transactions under the License Verification and Information System (LVIS) has caused the display of licensing information to not be in chronological order; however, all pertinent details are displayed. In the interest of having this look-up site available prior to the beginning of school the decision was made to “go live,” with the understanding that improvements to the way the information is displayed will continue. Another feature added to this look-up site is the ability to view substitute teacher permit data.

The license look-up allows a search of the database of Indiana educators by first and last name. The results provide a license history and, if applicable, the teaching assignment.

To correct missing or inaccurate license information, call the Office of Educator Licensing and Development at: 317-232-9010 or 1-866-542-3672. Licenses are updated weekly and corrections take seven to ten days to repost.

The teaching assignment information is obtained from the Certified Employee (DOE-CE) and the Certified Position (DOE-CP) data collections. Starting with the 2010-11 school year, the data are collected twice a year (December and May) from public and charter schools and will be reflected by the end of March and June, respectively. Until that time the most current data in the lookup will be from October of the 2009-10 school year. Also starting with the 2010-11 school year, accredited nonpublic schools that serve grades K-8 are no longer required to report the DOE-CE and DOE-CP; therefore, the teaching assignment information will not be available for all educators in nonpublic schools.

Teaching assignment information displayed on the Educator License Lookup is based on data submitted to the IDOE by school corporations. Missing or inaccurate subject assignments (obtained from the DOE-CP) cannot be corrected or submitted once the data are posted. Teacher information (obtained from the DOE-CE) can be corrected before the next posting by contacting the school or district administrator responsible for reporting this information to the Department of Education.
