This information system provides ecological, social, and economic information relevant to 18 indicators of forest sustainability chosen by the USDA Forest Service Northeastern Area State and Private Forestry and the Northeastern Area Association of State Foresters. Data are presented in user-friendly graphs, maps, and tables that track trends over time at State,
multistate, and other scales for the Northern United States, a region that includes the 20 Midwestern and Northeastern States and the District of Columbia.
This site follows the framework of criteria, indicators, and metrics. Criteria define broad categories, or goals, for sustainable forest management. Each criterion has a specific group of indicators, which provide specific measurements. In turn, indicators often have metrics, which identify data used to measure the indicators.

- To explore the data and additional resources, select “Sustainability C&I List” or one of the criteria to the left.
- To create a State, multistate, or regional data report for all 18 indicators, select "Create Report" to the left.
