Overview
IT Tools and Collaboration is an overarching category for the IT, technical, and enterprise services support provided by Personnel and Readiness Information Management (P&R IM) within the Personnel and Readiness (P&R) stakeholder community. With a portfolio of services, capabilities, and activities, the IT Tools and Collaboration team supports ongoing improvement, integration, and innovation of IT best practices to meet emerging business needs. The P&R IM offerings include tool development, collaboration best practices, training development, administrative support, and Green IT implementation.
P&R; IM's Expertise
P&R IM provides IT guidance, promotes understanding and execution of collaborative enterprise tools, and uses software tools and applications such as the DiscovHR tool to support Department of Defense (DoD) HRM initiatives and programs.
In addition, P&R IM leads the P&R community in the implementation of Green ITbest practices to conserve resources and comply with green computing standards. P&R IM has regularly disseminated information about Green IT practices to P&R components and has an enduring commitment to conserving energy and moving P&R and the Federal Government forward on IT and environmental issues.

P&R; IM has proven best practices in:
- IT Tool Development: Designing, developing, configuring, and deploying approved software and in-house applications using various tools and commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) products. The tools developed support project-related data gathering, data analysis, configuration management, and similar needs.
- Collaboration and Enterprise Solutions: Developing and supporting Web 2.0 enterprise solutions for increased collaboration and sharing across the organization.
- Training: Developing and assisting novice to advanced user training for P&R IM-generated applications and tools.
- Green IT: Developing solutions to track IT hardware life cycles, and implementing policy and procedures to purchase "Green" IT equipment, lengthen equipment life cycles, and decrease daily energy usage.
