November Board Meeting Canceled: The Board Meeting scheduled for November 9, 2016 has been canceled due to not having a quorum of board members. The next regularly scheduled meeting will be December 14, 2016 at 1:00 pm at the KBMIRT office located at 42 Fountain Place, Frankfort, KY 40601.
KBMIRT Office Closed: The KBMIRT office will be closed in accordance with KRS 18A.190, KRS 2.190 and KRS 2.110 on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 for the Presidential Election and Friday, November 11, 2016 for Veteran's Day.

Please note: All final disciplinary action by KBMIRT is reported to the National Practitioner Data Base (NPDB).
Who Must Be Licensed?
Any individual who operates radiation emitting equipment for medicine, nuclear medicine, radiation therapy, chiropractic, podiatry or bone densitometry must maintain an active Kentucky state license. These disciplines include professionals of radiography, nuclear medicine, radiation therapy, radiologic assistants and limited x-ray machine operators.
Licensure Categories:
General License:
Graduates who have completed an accredited educational program in radiography, nuclear medicine, radiation therapy or radiologist assistant who hold a valid certificate from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) may be licensed.
General licenses are issued to those who have completed the programs cited above and hold a valid certificate from the ARRT or the NMTCB.
Temporary License:
Recent graduates who have completed an educational program cited above and are awaiting examination with the ARRT or the NMTCB. This license is valid for one year only and is not renewable.
Limited (LXMO) License:
Individuals that have completed a Limited X-ray Machine Operator course of study (see description below):
Institutional Program
A limited radiography program approved by the state at a postsecondary institution.
Independent Study Course
A limited radiography independent study course available from the board. This course is designed for those working in a doctor’s office or medical clinic where limited radiography (non-contrast) procedures are performed. This course cannot exceed two years.
