Microgravity University Program

Welcome to Microgravity University! We are excited to offer experiences enabling undergraduate students and K-16 educators to conduct science, engineering, mathmatical and technological experiments in a simulated microgravity environment or on a research-based platform that includes NASA unique testing facilities and aircraft. Explore the current opportunities and check back with us for updates and information regarding specific application deadlines, proposal requirements and test week dates.

Micro-g Neutral Buoyancy Experiment Design Teams (Micro-g NExT)

The Micro-g Neutral Buoyancy Experiment Design Teams program challenges undergraduate students to design build, and test a tool or device that addresses an authentic, current space exploration challenge. The overall experience includes hands-on engineering design, test operations, and educational/public outreach. Test operations are conducted in the simulated microgravity environment of the NASA Johnson Space Center Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory (NBL).

Microgravity University for Educators (MgUE)

Microgravity University for Educators provides training on microgravity-related concepts, experimental testing using NASA's simulated microgravity test facilities, and post-experience outreach. MgUE begins with the submission of proposals from educators willing to perform experiments on behalf of K-12 students in simulated microgravity environments. Experiments involve student-derived solutions to technical problems or improvements to existing solutions identified by NASA scientists and engineers who use simulated microgravity environments in their work.
