A Message from Executive Director Gwen Wright
Dear Colleagues
Welcome to the New York State Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence (OPDV)’s website! As Executive Director of the nation’s only executive-level agency solely dedicated to improving the state’s response to and prevention of domestic violence, it is my honor to work with other governmental agencies, advocates, a multitude of professionals, and you on behalf of victims of domestic violence and others who have made this work their mission.
The role of this agency is to serve as an in-house advisor to State government on legislation, policies, and best practices in the area of domestic violence; to train professionals on domestic violence and how to incorporate this knowledge into their work; and to provide public education and outreach to increase understanding of domestic violence by the general public and specific audiences.
