A weekend road trip found a CDCR lieutenant and his wife rendering aid to a family caught in a truck precariously perched on a retaining wall in the middle of a busy highway.

Two other officers and a sergeant suffered minor injuries when they responded to stop the attack.
Approximately 60 inmates in seven groups recently completed the Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program, commemorating the accomplishment with a graduation ceremony at Sierra Conservation Center.
The California Rehabilitation Center Employee Association recently awarded $2,800 in scholarships. The scholarship recipients included three high school seniors and two college students who each received a $500 scholarship. Six students received honorable mention, along with a small monetary gift.
Laughter, joyous chattering and little feet frolicking through carnival-style games were the sounds heard at this year’s first Harvest Festival. The one-day event was hosted at Calipatria State Prison with more than 600 employees and their families attending.

“You make a difference” was the theme at California State Prison-Solano’s recent Staff Appreciation Day. Barbecues were grilling, music was playing and smiles were aplenty. Three different grilling stations were set up around the institution to ensure no staff members were left out – even those working first watch at 9 p.m.
Officers Josh Templeton and Scott Clain from the California Correctional Center’s Investigative Services Unit (ISU), along with other department heads, visited Diamond View Middle School in Susanville to participate in their seventh-grade career fair. The unit and their K-9 partners stole the show.

California State Prison-Corcoran recently hosted at-risk youth from a Tulare County High School on one of its facilities as part of its Rehabilitating Educating And Creating Hope (REACH) program.
On Sept. 9 at 7:30 a.m., the California Rehabilitation Center held a ceremony in remembrance of the terror attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, where nearly 3,000 people lost their lives and more than 6,000 were injured. Inmate veterans presented the flag and spoke during the ceremony.
