Cold Case on the Murder of Donnie R. Gibson
Kentucky State Police Request Help Resolving Donnie R. Gibson Murder
This occurred ago.
On December 17, 1979 Donnie R. Gibson was traveling east on the Daniel Boone Parkway in Perry County, when the vehicle he was driving was shot three (3) times by a person using a shotgun. The vehicle was discovered stopped in the eastbound lane of the roadway.
Donnie R. Gibson was pronounced dead at the scene by the Perry County Corner. One individual was charged in this case, however the charges were dismissed due to a lack of evidence. It is believed a connection may exist between this case and the Burton Jones Murder in May 1979. It is also believed that this murder has ties to a coal strike, which took place in 1979.
To date the perpetrator(s) have not been identified, and brought to trial.
