Standard and Custom Incentives

Energy efficiency is a winning proposition to every company, and financial incentives are available to help you make the transition to a more energy efficient facility.

For all projects, the application process will be business as usual. However, for the few applications with incentive amounts greater than $100,000, TVA will work with you to determine an incentive offer that ensures consistent funding is available for all projects of all sizes. Incentives are determined after pre-inspection and communicated in the Application Approval Notice letter.

Two types of financial assistance — Standard and Custom Incentives — are available to help reduce the cost of implementing more energy efficient equipment and accelerating your payback. The incentives are NOT designed to subsidize an Applicant that has the ability to overcome internal financial barriers through the energy savings alone. These incentives are offered through participating Local Power Companies in partnership with TVA. Business and Industry customers served by a participating Local Power Company and TVA direct served customers may qualify for incentives.

To Qualify for Incentives:

• For pre approval projects, DO NOT purchase, remove or install any equipment until all pre-approval requirements are completed and you have received an Application Approval Notice via email.
• Equipment purchased must meet the minimum efficiency requirements listed for each measure.
• Completion of pre- and post-installation inspections may be required.
• All incentives are subject to TVA’s and your Local Power Company’s approval and available funding.
• Commercial and Industrial Local Power Company customers and TVA direct served customers may be eligible to apply for incentives.
• Incentives are determined after pre-inspection and communicated in the Application Approval Notice via email.
• Projects greater than $100,000, TVA will work with you to determine an incentive offer that ensures consistent funding is available for all projects of all sizes.
• Applicants are limited to $100,000 incentive per facility per incentive year. For a single campus with multiple facilities, incentives cannot exceed $500,000 per incentive year.
• Fuel switching projects and new construction projects are not eligible for incentives.

• Incentive payments are capped at 70% of the project’s actual costs.

  • Standard Incentive project costs include material costs only.
  • Custom Incentive project costs include material costs and design costs.
• A Preferred Partners Network (PPN) member or contractor may assist with the completion of the application, but it is the responsibility of the Applicant to read and understand all parts of the application, including the Terms and Conditions, and ensure that all information submitted is correct. The applicant is a duly authorized representative of the company where measures will be installed.
