In 2015/2016, the NASA Earth Science Technology Office (ESTO) solicited community input in order to update its investment strategy in the area of lidar technologies. The prior ESTO lidar strategy was documented in 2006. This strategy update (nearly a decade after the previous one) captured the state of the art in lidar technologies as well as new and emerging required technology capabilities to enable NASA's Earth science measurement goals. ESTO invited the community to submit input and convened a virtual community forum on February 24, 2016.
