For most classified employees, the employee number begins with two zeroes (i.e., 00) followed by the seven numbers found within the ID number on the COVA Care medical benefits card (e.g., YTX1234567XU). In this case the employee number would be 001234567. However, if you are in COVA HealthAware, the employee number is listed as the complete 9 digit ID number found on your medical benefits card without letters.
Some agencies have an internal employee number (e.g., Virginia Community Colleges, Virginia Department of Transportation) in addition to the Commonwealth employee number. Be careful to use your Commonwealth employee number in these cases.
If you are on your spouse's insurance, without medical coverage with the Commonwealth, not covered under COVA Care or COVA HealthAware, or otherwise cannot determine your employee number, please contact your agency Human Resources or Payroll department.
