Utah State Historical Records Advisory Board (USHRAB)

Every state, including the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, has a State Historical Records Advisory Board (SHRAB). Authorized under the National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC) regulations, SHRABs are responsible for reviewing grant proposals submitted to NHPRC from organizations in their states. SHRABs also undertake statewide planning for historical records. The Utah State Historical Records Advisory Board (USHRAB) was established in 1978.

The mission of the USHRAB has been to assist public and private nonprofit organizations throughout the state in the acquisition, preservation, and use of records of enduring value.  Over the past several years the USHRAB has actively worked to establish a regional repository program to assist with these responsibilities. Currently there are eleven officially recognized regional repositories throughout the state.  The regional repositories are authorized to collect, process, preserve and make available historical records for research and study by the public.  Working together with institutions throughout the state, the USHRAB is committed to preserving Utah’s historical records for future generations.

Board Meetings

The USHRAB holds meetings at least three times yearly.

The Utah State Historical Records Advisory Board (USHRAB) will meet in January 2017. Meetings begin at 11:30 a.m. and are held at the Utah State Archives Building located at 346 S Rio Grande in Salt Lake City. This is a public meeting.
