California’s emergency personnel are the best in the country, but we still need individuals and families to bear responsibility for their safety and the safety of loved ones. So let’s be smart, be responsible, be prepared and be ready for when the next disaster strikes our state.

Welcome to Citizen Corps in California! |
CaliforniaVolunteers was designated by the Governor's Office as the lead oversight agency for California's Citizen Corps program. California's Citizen Corps program was created post 9/11 to help coordinate in-state volunteer activities in order to make our communities safer, stronger, and better prepared to respond to any emergency situation.
California’s Citizen Corps programs:
- UNITE Californians through volunteerism to build safer communities, and
- STRENGTHEN California's ability to manage disasters and emergencies of all kinds through the promotion of stronger, safer, and better prepared neighborhoods and communities.
|
These volunteer programs provide opportunities for people to participate in a range of measures that will make their families, their homes, and their communities safer from the threats of crime, terrorism, and disasters of all kinds.
California Citizen Corps also partners with other federal and state agencies as well as affiliated nonprofit organizations from the national and state level. All of these partners offer additional resources and materials for public outreach and education, preparedness and response training, community disaster education, and other volunteer service opportunities. To learn more about these partnerships, please visit the Partners & Affiliates page.
