Product Description

T2 Mood Tracker is designed to help you track your emotional experience over time and to provide you with a tool to share this information with your health care provider.

This app comes with six pre-loaded issues: anxiety, depression, general well-being, head injury, post-traumatic stress, and stress. You can also add customized scales on any topic (e.g., a pain scale). You use simple sliders to rate yourself on these behavioral categories and the app automatically graphs your inputs. You can also make notes describing things that happened during the day that may have affected your moods. This provides you and your health care provider with a complete tool to help you uncover patterns in how you are feeling. It may also help you to evaluate the impact of daily events or the effects of treatment on your mood.

T2 Mood Tracker was developed by the National Center for Telehealth & Technology (T2), the Defense Department’s primary agency for applying innovative technology to issues of psychological health and traumatic brain injury

I'm bipolar, and I've been looking for a good mood tracked for a long time now. Every time I ended up disappointed. Not this time!!! This app is EXACTLY what I was looking for. Very customizable, very precise, very specific. if you're looking for a trend tracked of ANY kind, this is it, you can create your own "moods" with any number of "traits" to track. Each with a slider that slides from the desirable trait to the undesirable trait to indicate exactly what mood you're in. Can use it to track physical illnesses and recovery as well and mental. I NEVER write reviews... this app blew me away, I had to rate it and write a review!

This product is exactly what I wanted - and more!

GENERAL LAYOUT OF T2 MOOD TRACKER:
This app is MUCH BETTER in so many ways than those ridiculous rating scales. The basic setup is this: The main page lists categories or feelings that I am tracking. (For example, my list currently includes anxiety, depression, general well-being, and stress.) When I press on one, a second page pops up. This page has several continuums along which I can move the indicator. Each continuum has one adjective on the left and one adjective on the right, with each adjective describing its respective end of the line.

There are additional pages you can select from the main page (results, support, settings). The "results" page graphs your responses. I haven't needed any support. There are only a few options in settings, but I haven't needed anything else.

WHERE OTHER RATING SCALES FAIL:
Some depression rating scales say "From 1-5, how depressed are you?" or "I slept too much last night" and ask you to rate your agreement. I find these to be almost completely ineffective for several reasons:
1. Typical rating scales want me to reduce my feelings to a number from 1-5. When I'm depressed, it is very hard to quantify my feelings in an objective way. It can even be hard to conceptualize the difference between a 1 and 2, because my feelings are so big and distracting that it's very hard to focus on something as menial as numbers.
2. Typical rating scales are inaccurate. Feelings happen on a continuum, not on a scale of integers, so classification based on an integer scale is inherently inaccurate.

I love this app and use it daily. I have a mood disorder and I use this not only to track mood but also to make notes about sleep quality, medication effects, and physical pain levels. IMO the installed number of "traits" per "mood" the way it comes didn't give me specific enough data - too many data points made the statistics all lean towards the center regardless. So I set up my own with the areas I struggle with and added things like ADLs that I also wanted to track. The graphed reports then give me a clear picture of my progress over time. Highly recommend. It takes time at first, but after that, simple to use.

Very simple set up and easy to use - but people with anxiety and depression typically either think the way they are feeling is at one end of a spectrum, not usually at a mid-point somewhere. In my experience, and from what I've seen with friends, someone feeling depressed or anxious either thinks it is the worst possible way they could feel or they are fine that day. Using a timeline asking whether you are worried or untroubled on one day without adding a note and reminding yourself what the day was like isn't very helpful at all.

I had difficulty navigating around the app, and I found the app difficult to use. There were multiple screens with sliding scales for so many variables that I found it cumbersome to use. As a busy professional, I prefer a tool that can be utilized quickly each time I access it. I removed it from my Kindle and put it back in the Cloud.

I can't say enough good things about this app. I really like how easy it is to use and how I can add my own scales (I added one for how late I am to meetings). I try to get all my patients to use it, too.
