Mission Statement & Goals Mission Statement: Serving Guam residents since 1949, our mission is to provide free and open access to information and ideas fundamental to a democracy. The library system will protect intellectual freedom, promote literacy, encourage lifelong learning, and maintain cultural materials. Donation Policy: Donations will be subject to the library’s collection policy. Upon receipt, donated materials become the property of the Guam Public Library System and will be reviewed by appropriate library personnel. Materials which are in poor physical condition, duplicate existing holdings, or fall outside the scope of the Library Collection Development Policy may be donated to another institution, or it may be sold to generate funds for the Guam Public Library System programs, exchanged, or discarded. Donations accepted: Books in good condition and Media materials (VHS, DVD, CD, audio cassettes, books on tape) in good condition. The library cannot use the following materials: damaged or moldy materials, and materials with highlighting or handwriting (except author-signed books). Patrons wishing to donate items should contact the library at (671)475-4751 or (671)475-4752 before dropping them off to make sure the library currently has space to store the donation. The library asks that the donated items be delivered in small boxes or bags that can be easily lifted and carried. |
