Welcome to the Company Command Forum!!

Welcome to your professional forum! Company Command is company commanders. We are a grass-roots, voluntary forum that is by and for the profession with a specific, laser-beam focus on company-level command. By joining, you are gaining access to an amazing community of professionals who love Soldiers and are committed to building combat-ready teams.

We just developed a "Hip pocket" digital LPD to support leader development programs at the company level. The Company Commander Leader Professional Development (CCLPD) package is a ready to go, mobile friendly LPD that can be executed anywhere providing the user has a smartphone or tablet, and has wifi access or a data plan.We provide content for discussion that includes a short video, related article and some recommended questions for discussion. This is designed for mobile platforms, though it can be used on a regular computer.

You can use CCLPDs for you or your unit by visiting the CCLPD webpage here.

By engaging in professional forums like the CC forum, leaders gain access to knowledge-however, more powerfully for the profession, they gain a platform to share their ideas, lessons learned, and wisdom born of experience. They are enabled to be professionals on a scale never before possible.
The single best description of the value of the CC forum is this Army Magazine article, which features company commanders describing how their forum has made a positive difference for them.

Leader Challenge

A Leader Challenge is an interactive, video-based vignette that features a dilemma-type scenario that a leader has experienced.

The Leader Challenge method for developing leaders builds on the idea that actual leadership experience is what develops leaders the most, and challenging experiences are the best leader development curriculum. We ask leaders to tell us stories on videotape about their most challenging experiences—hard hitting, dilemma-type situations. We then bring those video clips into the online community (or face-to-face settings) and ask participants to put themselves in the leader's shoes and to succinctly respond: "What are your considerations…What would you do?"

There are three steps to a Leader Challenge

  1. What would you do? What are your considerations? -- Watch the video clip and answer those two questions...in no more than 500 characters.
  2. Compare your response with others: Read the responses, vote them helpful and/or comment on the responses from other members.
  3. Rest of the Story: Watch the "Rest of the Story" video clip in which the protagonist describes what actually happened. You can also access additional resources such as related videos, articles, doctrine, etc.

Leader Cast

A Leadercast is a 3-5 minute video interview with a company-level leader who shares their story which is based on their leadership experiences in various situations in garrison, training centers, or in combat in Iraq and Afghanistan.

There are currently more than 1500 Leadercasts that will help set you off on a learning path as you watch Army officers share their experiences. Some of the searchable topics include:

Your New Company Command Platform

For over 13 years, company commanders have been connecting with each other through the CC forum--in a grass-roots, front-porch conversation focused on becoming better leaders and growing more effective units. Today, a growing network of more than 10,000 company commanders are engaging in their professional forum.

We have changed technology platforms several times over the years, and we just finished moving to a new platform. We are, as expected, working through some adjustments, the biggest of which is the CAC requirement; however, we will figure things out. In the end, it's going to be a much more powerful platform that will give us some amazing new capabilities.

If you have any issues getting on to the forum, please contact our tech guru, Tom Morel, who will help you.

We are rocking on a new CC Facebook page, which we are using to keep members in the know about the hot conversations and content in the forum. Follow your forum there.

Last, but not least, we publish an article in ARMY Magazine each month (the Company Command Column) featuring some of the most valuable conversations in the forum. You can access all those articles here: http://cc.army.mil/pubs/armymagazine. The latest one on building a cohesive team is pretty awesome and a great way to start a conversation about the topic with your own team. Just have your leaders read it, and then get together over lunch to talk about what you, collectively, are doing to create a great team.
