Welcome to the research group of Dr. Emory Chan in the Inorganic Nanostructures Facility at the Molecular Foundry! Our group synthesizes colloidal nanocrystals as substrates for patterning complex materials.

The three major thrusts of our group's research are:
  1. Combinatorial nanoscience: Developing  approaches to precisely synthesize large libraries of nano- and mesostructures and to rapidly screen their physical properties.

  2. Upconverting and doped nanoparticles: Engineering dopant compositions and dopant profiles to tune the optical properties of nanomaterials.

  3. Patterning: Patterning energy and materials across assemblies of nanocrystals using biologically inspired strategies.
