DOUBLE CHECK IOWA

Do you double check before you invest? You should. There are investment offers everywhere – offers in your mail, ads in the newspaper, callers on your telephone or Internet emails or ads. Some of these offers are legitimate, some are not, and some may be scams. You need to know who to contact to make sure they are legitimate.

Here are a few red flags. If you see these, double check before you invest:

• The investment is in a company you have never heard of or is being sold by a stranger.
• You have to invest right away, or you’ll miss an opportunity.
• The investment is “guaranteed” to make you money.

If any investment offer sounds too good to be true, it probably is. So double check with the Iowa Insurance Division before you invest. The Iowa Insurance Division can give you the background information you need to make wise investments and also check out the salesperson, and it’s free.
