    Today, Secretary of State John Kerry announced that the United States is providing nearly $155 million in additional humanitarian assistance to displaced and conflict-affected Iraqis within Iraq and throughout the region who are in urgent need of support.   • Secretary of State John Kerry Remarks on Daesh and Genocide

    In 2014, the terrorist group Daesh began to seize territory in Syria and Iraq, overrunning major cities and committing atrocities. The United States responded quickly by denouncing these horrific acts and – more importantly – taking coordinated actions to counter them.   • The Iraqi Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) program benefiting individuals who have been employed by, or on behalf of, the U.S. government in Iraq has been extended through passage of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for FY 2014. The NDAA authorizes the issuance of 2,500 immigrant visas after January 1, 2014 to qualified principal applicants.
