Currently we have to enter each tag one by one which makes doing mass entry rather cumbersome. If the user is using a service like ArcGIS.com the tags are already organized into a comma delineated format and it would be nice to be able to copy paste this.

We are increasingly directing users to index resources in ScienceBase to improve discoverability. Some of the things we want them to add are tools (e.g., geoprocessing tools, spatial analysis tools, etc).

Having this as a high-level category similar to data and maps will improve user's ability to find these resources.

The current select list of tags under "With Filter..." is way too cumbersome. The list is usually too long to navigate, and it is pretty useless. You need to come up with a tag cloud approach or some other way of presenting users with a comprehensible browse list of terms.

When I create a new item then add a GeoTIFF to it, I don't get any services in my item. When I create an item from a GeoTIFF, I get services, but the extent of the preview image is all messed up. I even tried linking the WMS from one item that I created by uploading a GeoTIFF to the item I created from scratch. Again, the bounding extent doesn't get set right. Now that publishing of ArcGIS products as services is limited to service packages, users need a better download format for desktop use.

The best thing is probably to provide an endpoint that gives users the contents of the service package file as a zip file. While users could do that themselves, service packages are not intended to be used in that manner and does confuse folks when used that way.

It would be great to be able to provide a formal citation for datasets or products in ScienceBase, particularly if this is the only or primary location where the dataset or product is. Even better would be the opportunity to claim "authorship" (as opposed to "Contact") so that a citation could be created, e.g., Name, Date, Title, ScienceBase URL, last accessed....

Currently, top left of Catalog view window, to right of "ScienceBase-Catalog" the "Search ^" (down arrow) link provides one option "New Search". Why not rename the "Search ^" as "New Search" (eliminate drop down) so, a user only has to click New Search once and not the current: 1) click Search ^, 2) click New Search.

I have an ArcMap doc with NCCWSC-funded project study-area polygons that link to the NCCWSC group references on Mendeley. Can these be incorporated with Science Base? Right now I can go from the spatial loc to the refs but not from the refs to the spatial loc. I was thinking Science Base could help me with that. Education on this most welcome. I'm quite new to Science Base.

PERMLINK makes little sense to general users. It doesn't make sense to experienced users either as it leads to downloading the citation.

Currently you have to take a snap shot of the publications in the Pubs Warehouse and add them to your virtual catalog. After taking an initial snap shot, as a catalog manager I would like to be able to subscribe to notifications indicating new releases given a key word tag and then have the option to add the item to my virtual catalog. This way I don't have to continue taking snap shots periodically and avoid having an out of date pubs listing.

If I am authorized to create and manage a folder, why can't I change its name?

The National Map staged products are organized by parent folders and users are requesting a shapefile that includes the spatial footprint of all the children and key properties like: identifiers, title, summary, dates and links. The shapefile could be generated after harvest and only updated as needed.

No matter what I do, the application freezes saying:

The system is automatically determining the service bounding box. Please wait...

Even if I just put my cursor in the url box then click out of the box... it freezes trying to query an empty url with that url displayed.

Have bounding box search option to include larger data sets that also encompass the designated area of interest. Example: bounding box of part of Colorado also includes State-wide data source.
