Overview

The Cognitive Foundry is a modular Java software library for the research and development of cognitive systems. It contains many reusable components for machine learning, statistics, and cognitive modeling. It is primarily designed to be easy to plug into applications to provide adaptive behaviors.

The Cognitive Foundry's development is led by Sandia National Laboratories and is released under the open source BSD License.

Packages

The Cognitive Foundry is made up of multiple modular packages from which you can use all together or pick and choose the ones that meet your needs:

• Common - Contains generally useful Java classes, including objects for linear algebra.
• Machine Learning - Contains algorithms and components for machine learning and statistics.
• Text - Contains algorithms and components for text analysis and information retrieval.
• Cognitive Framework - Contains a framework for building cognitive models.

Cognitive Foundry Approved for Open Source (June 25, 2010)

The Cognitive Science and Applications group at Sandia National Laboratories are pleased to announce that the Cognitive Foundry was approved by Sandia and the Department of Energy for open source release.
