    Menomonee Falls – Governor Scott Walker joined employees and community leaders at Reich Tool & Design, Inc. (RTD) today for their 50th Anniversary celebration.  RTD is a second-generation, privately held manufacturing company.

  • Governor Scott Walker Participates in Project SEARCH Tour at HSHS St. Vincent Hospital and Bellin Hospital

    Green Bay – Governor Scott Walker toured HSHS St. Vincent Hospital and Bellin Hosptial today to highlight the Green Bay Project SEARCH partnership.  HSHS St. Vincent Hosptial and Bellin Hospital are internship sites for the Green Bay program.  Project SEARCH is a one-year transition program that provides training and education to young adults, ages 18-25, with disabilities.

    “Through the Green Bay Project SEARCH internship experience, students gain valuable skills and knowledge to help them obtain a job upon graduation,” Governor Walker said.  “A strong Wisconsin workforce is one that is inclusive to the unique abilities and talents of all individuals, including those with disabilities. Workforce development programs like Project SEARCH are crucial as we continue to build a state where every citizen has the opportunity to achieve their piece of the American Dream.”

    “Project SEARCH programs, like the one here at Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital, are helping our workers with disabilities acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to obtain employment,” Governor Walker said.  “This improves the bottom line for businesses in Wisconsin and spurs economic growth.  More importantly, it allows our workers with disabilities to use their unique abilities in the workplace and demonstrate that their disability is only one facet of who they are as a person.”

  • Governor Scott Walker Participates in Project SEARCH Tour at William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital

    Madison – Governor Scott Walker toured William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital today in Madison to highlight their Project SEARCH partnership.  This one-year transition program focuses on providing training and education to young adults with disabilities.  Governor Walker has proclaimed October as Disability Employment Awareness Month in Wisconsin.  Throughout the month, Governor Walker and the Department of Workforce Development (DWD) will highlight programs and businesses that provide employment opportunities for people with disabilities, as well as encourage other businesses to provide opportunities for this skilled, dedicated, and capable workforce.

    “The students participating in the Project SEARCH program at William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital have the unique opportunity to receive a quality classroom education while developing skills to help them obtain a job upon their graduation.” Governor Walker said.  “October is Disability Employment Awareness Month in Wisconsin, and we are proud to celebrate the accomplishments of workers with disabilities.  We continue to build a strong and diverse workforce in our state by investing in programs, like Project SEARCH, to help people with disabilities overcome obstacles to employment.”
