Inaugural IFE Science and Technology
Strategic Planning Workshop: Updates on
Progress, Visions, and Near-Term Opportunities
San Ramon, California
April 24 - 27, 2007
The Fusion
Energy Program at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory
will host a community workshop to assess near-term and long-term research
opportunities and to update plans as they pertain to inertial fusion
energy and the associated high energy density physics and technologies.
A major focus of the Workshop will be on outlining
and updating plans for how the high energy density physics (HEDP),
inertial confinement fusion (ICF), and inertial fusion energy (IFE)
communities will work together to develop a compelling U.S. IFE strategy.
Both near-term and longer-term activities will be discussed. The Workshop
will focus on the science and technology needed to make IFE an attractive
energy source and how the needed R&D will
evolve from current HEDP/ICF/IFE activities and facilities.
Location
The workshop will be held Tuesday through Friday (noon), April 24 - 27,
2007 at the Marriott Hotel in San Ramon, California, in the East Bay
region. A block of rooms is being held until April
