FLAGS OVER AMERICA is the Missouri Center for the Book selection representing our state at this year's ever-popular National Book Festival. The author and illustrator of the book, Cheryl Harness, has been a friend of the MCB and Missouri readers for many years, particularly young readers.

The Missouri Center for the Book (MCB) recently named George Hodgman's, "Bettyville" (Viking, 2015) as the winner of the first Ardis L. Glenn Prize. The prize is named in honor of noted Kansas City Antiquarian Bookseller, Ardis L. Glenn. Hodgman's memoir, equal parts compassion and humor, recount his return to Paris, Missouri from his literary life in New York to take care of his aging mother.

April Roy
The Missouri Center for the Book is very fortunate to have April Roy, the Branch Manager of the Lucile H. Bluford Branch of the Kansas City Public Library, as one of its board members. April has represented the MCB at two National Book Festivals in Washington D.C. The prestigious " I Love My Librarian Award" was recently added to her well-earned list of accomplishments. Congratulations April!

The following article was written by Larisa Cassell, former president of the MCB board and proprietor of Green Gate Farm Antiquarian Books in Richmond, Missouri. Larisa, along with fellow board member, Annette Kolling - Buckley, proprietor of Columbia Books in Columbia, Missouri, is a member of the prestigious Antiquarian Booksellers' Association of America. Larisa and Annette are two of only three ABAA members in the state of Missouri.
