Data Access

Systems and applications can access NED data via web services developed by the NIH Web Services group or SQL via the nVision NED Repository. NED data includes non-sensitive information as well as data covered under the NED system of records notice (SORN), which requires special approval in order to access.

NED Web Services

The NIH Web Services group offers several services for use by systems and applications wishing to receive NED data in this manner. Information regarding these services is available on the NIH Web Services website under "Manage Human Capital." For additional information, you can email the NIH Web Services group at citiscsoa@mail.nih.gov or submit a request to the NIH IT Service Desk online. When classifying your request, select "NIH SOA (TIBCO) Services" under NIH Specialty Applications. You can also call the Service Desk at (301) 496-HELP(4357) to submit a request.

To request system or application access to sensitive data covered under the NED System of Records Notice (SORN) via an ISC web service, submit a NED Sensitive Data Request Form.

nVision NED Repository

Systems and applications may use SQL select statements to obtain data from the nVision NED Repository:

To request access to the nVision NED Repository, contact nVision Support at nvisionsupport@mail.nih.gov or 301-435-5555.

Note: nVision extracts NED data Monday-Friday around 8PM, but the NED Repository including the HR_NED_HISTORY_FCT_RPT table isn't refreshed until the following morning between 1AM and 2AM. Thus, systems wishing to obtain the most current NED data should plan on obtaining data after this time.
