The hometown of President Jimmy Carter, Plains is a quiet, peaceful town, its rural southern culture revolving around farming, church and school. Although known for its corn, cotton and soybeans, Plains celebrates most its peanuts, the community gathering each fall for the Plains Peanut Festival.
