ophicollage.pngWelcome to the Office of Population Health Improvement!

The Office of Population Health Improvement (OPHI) seeks to improve the health of Marylanders through the integration of a high performing public health system with value-based health care in order to improve the health of communities and reduce unnecessary health care spending.

OPHI programs and staff define and measure Maryland's health status, access, and quality indicators for use in planning and determining public health policy; develop new models of care delivery that incentivize value over volume; provide and update the State's dashboard for population health improvement; develop and provide technical assistance to coalitions working to improve health in Maryland jurisdictions; fund and support local public health departments; seek public health accreditation of State and local health departments; collaborate with the Maryland State Department of Education to assure the physical and psychological health of school-aged children; and create and promote relevant state and national health policies.
