  1. Allow Direct TV and Dish Network to carry Comcast Sportsnet--Philadelphia

I have considered switching to Direct TV because it is cheaper, however, Comcast holds all of the regional viewing rights to the Phillies, Flyers and 76ers so I would only be able to watch my favorite teams if they are on a national telecast.

    • Make Broadband Delivery Like a Utility

To support the wide range of applications in diversified fields that FCC's National Broadband Plan is contemplating, we need to characterize broadband as a utility after water, gas, electricity and telephony. So that it will be a simple facility to do all of the different tasks without distractions of its own. We should demand for building up the network infrastructure, in particular that on customer premises, with block-box modules.
Do not be deceived by current offerings on the market. They use "simple" as the smoke screen to promote intertwined end-to-end product and service packages that each is hard to understand,…

        • Add SMS spam as a complaint option

Inbound SMS messages are NOT free.

Telemarketers/SPAMers have ruined e-mail. Do not let SMS be the next target. Unless you have an unlimited "Texting" plan you may be paying 10-20 cents per inbound message. This needs to be illegal and the Carriers should be required to police their networks for SMS Spammers.

          • Ability to link directly to certain databases

At present you can create a URL that links directly to all ECFS filings on a given docket, e.g. http://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/ecfs/proceeding/view?name=09-157

Some of us would like to make a "spectrum wiki" for public access to all sorts o spectrum data for each band. It would very useful to have comparable URLs for direct access to all radio and all equipment authorizations licenses for a specific band.

            • A quick and clear way to find the status of every petition now before the Commission

Any name or topic search leads to numerous hits on the FCC database. This makes it extremely difficult to track private initiatives.

An area dedicated to each and every submitted petition, where it is in the system, and exactly what it contains, would make it simple for any member of the public to follow any matter of interest. To be really effective the search function could be at least linked to key words, petition numbers, date of submission, the submitter, and any rules affected.

              • Resolve tangled legislation between state and federal to actually regulate cable operators

It seems there are big gaps between the regulation of cable operators at the state and federal level and the result is no regulation. Cable companies are allowed monopolies and limited monopolies yet there is no one protecting the customer's interest. Either the taxpayer should be able to choose their operator in a competitive marketplace or the government should be protecting the consumers' interests against loss of service, choice of channels and price gouging. It is unbelievable that only the customers see the bad pattern of a company like Cablevision whose customers 1) have lost service of the YES network,…

                • Broadcast Television reform

Broadcast television is paid for by advertising dollars. That being the case, we as consumers, should not have to pay for it through our cable or satellite TV subscriptions. In other words, we should not have to pay for a broadcast that was freely given to the people over the airways. We contend that this information becomes public domain after it has been broadcast in this manner. broadcast television is paid for by advertising dollars. • live and archived webcasts of policy setting meetings that are searchable by keyword

combining webcasts with transcriptions of meetings and making them searchable would be an excellent way for the public to get involved and informed in the early stages of decision making. The information and topics discussed are very intriguing, but long drawn out meetings that aren't searchable by agenda item or keyword wouldn't be that useful.

                    • Dump GRMS license fee since FRS only radios are not available anymore.

Why should we have to pay $85 for a license to use an FRS radio when all you can buy today is an FRS/GMRS radio that nobody is getting a license for anyway?

                      • Post the actual comment due date when it becomes available

NPRMs and similar documents requesting comments usually give due date relative to Federal Register publication date - obviously not known immediately. But when it is known there is now no way to find the date on the FCC site, one must search in the FR and then do your own math.

Here is a page OET used to maintain showing dockets, a short description that is understandable, and the actual due date.
                        http://www.fcc.gov/oet/info/docket_comments/

Something similar should be done on a commission-wide basis. This will facilitate participation by those without K Street lawyers.

                        • Rural Broadband via Power Lines

Great idea to build out a smart grid to maximize efficiency, but this is also an excellent way to provide broadband service to rural areas. The powerlines are already there and are capable of carrying the broadband signals along with the electrical power.

                          • All FCC documents, RM. FCC, DA etc have a full text google type search function with date limits

Presently, it is very difficult to be sure to find relevant documents in the EDOCS and ECFS unless you know the docket, RM, FCC, DA or other number. There should be a full text search of all FCC documents on the FCC.gov site. The search should be able to be limited to ranges of dates for issue, comment, reply comment (the latter two having a default of "open today". This would assure the ability to find all relative documents on a subject. Currently a search is hit and miss, and you need to be sure you have found all the…

                            • CableCard slots in flat panel TVs.

I just contacted vie e-mail, CableLabs. Mark Schwartz said that they recommended to the manufacturers to include CableCard technology in their units. The technology is provided from CableLabs at no charge to the mfr. Now consumers purchase a beautiful flat screen, to hang on their wall, only to resort to using a clunky old set top box? Not cool, and not consumer friendly!

                              • Add email notification to the list of official means for notices of upcoming license renewal

Use of an email notification as an early means of official notice for online renewal for license(s) associated with FRN. This would allow the FCC to only mail hard copy of renewals to the physical address of those that did not respond to the email for renewal. My though is that this should eventually be a savings to the government by reduction in materials and labor costs required to generate the notices and the future increasing internal costs of delivery versus the upfront and maintenance cost of programming the software.

                                • Searchable, daily list of "ex parte" meetings with lobbying groups, etc.

Lobbying groups meet with the FCC daily to try to persuade it to do their clients' bidding. Currently, it is only possible to find out about these meetings via vague memos posted in the Electronic Comment Filing System. The Commission should increase transparency by making it easy to see information on recent meetings and by allowing the public to search by interest group as well as displaying meetings by date.

                                    • An Internet hosted real time wideband spectrum scope from FCC offices in various large cities

An Internet hosted real time wideband spectrum scope from FCC offices in various large cities similar to a weather radar map that can be clicked on and zoomed in on by Internet users.
This will show the average person on which frequencies RF energy is being transmitted on in that area.

All Internet service providers seeking to connect subscribers to the internet should have public interest obligations. Mandate that they must provide local news and information just as in prior era Broadcasters were required to provide news and information. Regulate net-neutrality via this vehicle as well.

                                        • blog for public to suggest regulatory changes: like cell servic cap expansion to work in emergencies

On talking to an executive recently of a major cell phone service provider it is clear it won't happen without regulatory requirements. Just make this a national priority and it can be designed…
