Q:How do I find a Session Schedule?
A:At the beginning of each session, the General Assembly adopts a joint resolution to establish a schedule for the session. The schedule establishes various procedural items, including but not limited to dates for joint assemblies (when the Senate and House of Delegates meet together), deadlines for introduction of legislation, and deadlines for consideration of legislation by each chamber and its committees.
Q:How do I find out what time that session convenes and adjourns each day?
A:The Senate and the House of Delegates usually convene at12 noon each day. Depending upon the amount of business to be considered, both may convene earlier. There is no set time for adjournment for either chamber. Adjournment is determined by the amount of business before each chamber. Adjournment can be found by looking at the Senate and House Minutes or on the VASenate or VAHouse Twitter.
Q:How do I subscribe to a mailing list for interim studies?
A:Any interested person may request to be added to the mailing lists of House or Senate interim committee and study meetings by using a subscription form.
Q:How do I observe a committee meeting?
A:House and Senate Committee Meetings are open to the public. A complete listing of upcoming committee meetings is available online.
Q:How do I find out about the budget process in Virginia?
A:Information on the budget process may be obtained from the House Appropriations Committee and the Senate Finance Committee. Each of these committees maintain websites that provide detailed information on the respective bodies budget procedures.In addition, the Legislative Information System (LIS) budget website to view pertinent session data that correspond to the current year budget bills and budget amendments. The Department of Planning and Budget's (DPB) also contains information helpful to the budget process.

A:The status of legislation may be found by accessing the Legislative Information System (LIS). Information is stored in various formats and may be searched by different methods including subject, member, date of introduction, etc....
Q:How do I access the Constitution of Virginia, the Code of Virginia, or the Virginia Administrative Code?
A:Each of these resources may be accessed via the Legislative Information System (LIS).
Q:How do I obtain a copy of a law/chapter/act?
