Staff Sgt. Chinita Jiles is a flight operation medical technician assigned to the Pentagon Flight Medicine Clinic.She was awarded second place, among 35 providers, nurses and technicians, for her report on the use of the Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination, which helps prevent sexually transmitted infections. Phase 1 construction of the new Malcolm Grow Medical Clinics and Surgery Center is completed. The new facility, building 1060, is now open for patients. Senior Airman Victor Gutierrez, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention Treatment Mental Health Technician, 779th Medical Group drives a new alcohol pedal cart wearing special goggles, which simulate what it feels like to drive while intoxicated. The front entrance of the old Malcolm Grow Medical Clinics and Surgery Center, building 1050, and the adjacent west parking area, will be closed due to the start of the MILCON Phase 2 construction.

The Mobility Solace Exercise was held on Joint Base Andrews on August 16, 2016. The Joint Base Andrews Pharmacy at Malcolm Grow Medical Clinics and Surgery Center is located on the first floor of Building 1060.

The 79th Medical Wing (79th MDW) was activated on May 12, 2006 and is one of three medical wings in the Air Force.

The 79th MDW is a mission partner on Joint Base Andrews with two subordinate units: the 779th Medical Group located on Joint Base Andrews, and the 579th Medical Group located on Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling. Additionally, these groups have medics working across the National Capital Region (NCR) including Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Md.; Fort Belvoir Community Hospital, Va.; Fort George Meade, Md., and the Pentagon.
