UNAUTHORIZED ALIEN WORKERS
The Law
Section 285.530 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri prohibits a business entity or employer from knowingly employing, hiring for employment, or continuing to employ an unauthorized alien to perform work within the state of Missouri.
Section 285.535 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri allows any state official, business entity, or state resident to file a complaint regarding the employment of unauthorized aliens.
If you have information that a business entity is violating the law by employing an unauthorized alien, you may submit a complaint to the Attorney General’s Office. The complaint must be verified, meaning that it must be written and signed under penalty of perjury.
Requirements of Employers
Section 285.535 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri requires any business entity having a contract for services or grants in excess of $5,000 with the state or any political subdivision to file an affidavit showing compliance with this law.
