Ross took part in Exercise Sea Breeze 2016 and were attached to the Charles de Gaulle strike group in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, it spent 127 days on patrol in the Mediterranean and Black Seas, conducting 9 port calls while deployed.
Carney’s visit strengthened existing maritime relationships between U.S. 6th Fleet and regional allies.
The ship’s presence in the Mediterranean is a demonstration of the U.S. Navy’s continued commitment to NATO and the collective security of the European region.
Keskin met with Cmdr. Peter Halvorsen, commanding officer, USS Carney, while they observed deck landing qualifications with a Turkish Navy SH-70 helicopter.
