Application Instructions
The SCDC employment application is available as a Microsoft Word 97-2003 file.

You may complete the SCDC employment application and submit it via e-mail.
The Microsoft Word file is password protected, but if you have Microsoft Word 97 you can open the application and applicant skills inventory read only file, fill in the blanks, and save each with a new file name. Once it is completed and saved, you can attach the completed form to an e-mail and submit it to the Recruiting and Employment Services Branch of the Department of Corrections at employment@doc.state.sc.us. You will be required to sign the application if you are called in for an interview.
Be absolutely certain that the return address on your e-mail is the one through which you wish to be contacted in the event there is a problem reading your application. If you cannot be contacted at the e-mail address indicated, please be sure that your mailing address and telephone number are correct and current. Due to the nature of internet e-mail, the Department of Corrections cannot guarantee the correct reception of an e-mailed application form.
How to Apply for Employment with SCDC
Applicants must submit an Application in order to be considered for employment. The SCDC Application may be obtained by clicking on the link above. Once received, the application is entered into the agency's Applicant Referral System and an acknowledgement of receipt is sent to the applicant's home address. The notification will include a Personal Identification Number (PIN) and instructions on how to use the PIN and the Applicant Referral Online System to apply for vacant positions.Statewide vacant positions are announced every Tuesday and Thursday. These announcements are posted at all SCDC Facilities, local Job Service Offices, and online at SCDC Employment Opportunities.
Required Qualifications
Applicants must meet both the State Minimum and the SCDC Additional requirements for each vacant position except for Correctional Officer/Cadet (listed below). The State Minimum Requirements are often general to the job classification, while the Agency's Additional requirements often require more education and experience specific to the vacant position.Correctional Officer/Cadet Requirements:
US Citizenship, 18 years of age, High School Diploma or GED, No Criminal Record, Valid Drivers License. If offered employment, must pass a physical examination administered by SCDC.
Additional Requirements: Incumbent must satisfactorily complete all academic and on the job training by the Department of Corrections as specified. Training is provided in accordance with CLEE Guidelines.
