PEO EIS Programs

PEO PERSPECTIVE NOVEMBER 2016

November holds some big changes for PEO EIS. This month we welcome BG Patrick Burden to PEO EIS as the Program Executive Officer.

BG Burden is currently the Deputy PEO, Ammunition and Senior Commander at Picatinny Arsenal, where he has led the mission to support the Army’s munitions needs and increase combat power since October 2014. Prior to his assignment at Picatinny, he served as the Deputy to the Deputy for Acquisition and Systems Management for the Assistant Secretary of the Army (Acquisition, Logistics and Technology). PEO EIS welcomes him back to the team where his last assignment was as Project Manager for the General Fund Enterprise Business System (GFEBS), as well as an earlier assignment as the Product Manager for the former Joint-Automatic Identification Technology (J-AIT). Join me as we formally welcome him at the Change of Charter, which will take place at Fort Belvoir on November 29.

In October, AUSA provided a great opportunity for us to connect with our customers, industry partners and Army leadership on Army priorities that we work to make possible including readiness, modernization and cyber defense. Our CIO, Manish Patel, participated in a Network Modernization panel focused on cyber hosted by C4ISRNET. Tom Neff, the PD for Enterprise Services (ES), participated in a small business panel discussion with officials from across DOD and the federal government hosted by the CIO/G-6, and Program Management Director Victor Hernandez was invited by LTG Williamson to participate in a panel on federal IT acquisition reform that also featured our former PEO and now Director of the Army’s newly launched Rapid Capabilities Office, Doug Wiltsie. It was a productive AUSA featuring innovation, information sharing and new technology to meet the Army’s promise to support the Soldier.

PM I3C2 Mike Padden spoke on a panel at the MILCOM 2016 conference in Baltimore, Maryland, November 1, and his deputy, Ralph Ocasio, will join PD ES Tom Neff on a panel at the AFCEA NOVA Enterprise Information Small Business Forum November 4 at the Tysons Corner Sheraton – I hope you will join us! Each November, we at PEO EIS are reminded of the importance of our mission and its support to our veterans. Veterans Day is an important time for us to reflect on the sacrifices of all who have served, some of whom made the ultimate sacrifice. Equally important is recognition of the men and women of the Armed Forces, DOD civilians and contractors, and the families of those who currently serve with distinction. We owe a debt of gratitude to all for the daily sacrifices they make to ensure our freedom. November is also Native American Indian Heritage Month and Military Family Month. PEO EIS and the Army pays tribute to the rich ancestry and traditions of Native Americans, and to our service families who are the backbone of our Soldiers—the heart of everything we do. As always, thank you for your support of PEO EIS and its programs.

Army Strong!
