Governor Carcieri and Fiscal Fitness staff show off two prestigious national awards resulting from "The Big Audit."
The National Association of State Procurement Officials (NASPO) bestowed Rhode Island their "
Cronin Classic Silver Award" on August 29, 2006, in recognition of outstanding procurement initiatives, and especially for the efficiencies and savings achieved through its purchasing initiatives.
In September 2006 the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing, Inc. (NIGP) recognized Rhode Island with the prominent "Innovations in Public Procurement Award" for the state's "leadership and forward-thinking in the area of public procurement."
Both awards have brought the national spotlight to Rhode Island's Fiscal Fitness program, making the Ocean State a model in how to make government run more efficiently
