Adobe Files - Readers: Abobe's pdf format is used for some files on this site. You may download a free .pdf viewer from Adobe at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readermain.html

Free Adobe tools are also available to assist visually impaired users at http://access.adobe.com/tools.html. A text-only accessible version of the page, is located at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/alternate.html 

Additionally, Adobe has added a pdf conversion tool that will convert pdf files to HTML pages. You will find that resource at http://access.adobe.com/simple_form.html

If the document you need to convert is not on the internet, Adobe has developed a "plug-in" for Adobe Acrobat 4.0/Acrobat Reader 4.0 that will convert any pdf files you may have on your computer. It may be found at http://access.adobe.com/downloads.html 

Adobe is aggressively addressing the need for accessibility and has submitted this "White Paper" on their newest version of Adobe Acrobat. The newest version, Adobe Acrobat 5.0, has been on the market since April 2001. 

Another innovator in web technology, Macromedia, is attempting to provide assistance to those developing web pages that need to comply with Section 508. You may check their Accessibility Page for downloads that assist in making their software applications compliant with Section 508.
