Office of Violent Sex Offender Management Board Hires New Executive Director

The Office of Violent Sex Offender Management Board today hired Marsha McLane as the agency's new executive director. McLane replaces Allison Taylor, who resigned earlier this week. The executive director manages functions of the office related to the sex offender civil commitment program.

McLane has extensive experience working with the Texas Legislature and with sex offender programs, treatment programs, parolees and criminal justice issues. She most recently worked for the Texas the Board of Pardons and Paroles and has previously worked for Sen. John Whitmire, former Sen. Florence Shapiro, and former Reps. Jim McReynolds and Jerry Madden. McLane also has consulted and provided program monitoring services to the Council on Sex Offender Treatment. She has been responsible for compliance monitoring of correctional facility contracts at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and managing the secure and non-secure residential facilities under contract with the Board of Pardons and Paroles.

"Marsha McLane understands the challenges we face as an agency and the need to restore public confidence in this board, this agency and this program. She brings a wealth of experience to the table. She recognizes the importance of working with legislators to improve this program to adapt to our changing demands, especially with regard to the current housing issues. She is uniquely qualified to be the executive director of the Office of Violent Sex Offender Management, and the board looks forward to working with her and the Legislature."

McLane holds a bachelor’s degree from Kent State University and a master’s degree from the University of North Texas.

She will begin work in her new position Monday, May 5.
