Statement of Joel Bolstein, PHRC Interim Chair, on recent tension incidents at Pennsylvania schools.
The recent Presidential election has led to several incidents at schools across the state, which the PHRC has been monitoring. To all the parents out there, we ask you to set a good example for our children.
A great Pennsylvanian, Fred Rogers, known to everyone as Mr. Rogers, once said: "Little by little, we human beings are confronted with situations that give us more and more clues that we are not perfect."
Let us each resolve that we will do everything in our power to fix our imperfections, show more empathy for others, fight against racism, bigotry and intolerance, and learn to live together as brothers and sisters.
The PHRC is the state agency tasked with reducing racial tensions in the Commonwealth. If anyone believes their child is being bullied, threatened or is the victim of discriminatory actions by their fellow students or others, we urge you to bring that to our attention and we will take action. It is our job and we take it very seriously.
