Enjoy the Benefits of Working for Nebraska
We offer a comprehensive package of pay, benefits, paid time off, and workplace opportunities to help you get the most out of your career and life. Your paycheck is just part of your total compensation. Eligible employees also have access to a competitive benefits package that includes health insurance, retirement, and vacation benefits.
As an eligible state employee, you and your family can choose from several medical, vision and dental plans. The state’s employee premiums make high-quality medical coverage affordable.
The State offers a $20,000 term life insurance policy, at no cost, to all permanent, full-time employees and, at a pro-rated cost to permanent, part time employees. Permanent employees may elect to purchase additional life insurance coverage for themselves and their family.
The state also offers long-term disability insurance at the employees cost which offers a tax-free monthly benefit in the event an employee becomes disabled or is unable to work due to illness or injury.
State employees can choose to enroll in a Flexible Spending Account to save money on certain health expenses or daycare expenses by paying for them with pre-tax dollars.
The Health Care FSA reimburses you for eligible out-of-pocket health care expenses not covered by any health, dental or vision care plan you may have.
Dependent Care FSA create a tax break for dependent care expenses (typically child care or day care expenses) that enable you to work.
A Heath Savings Account is a personal bank account that you own, and it allows you to save money out of each paycheck on a pre-tax basis. You can use the money you save in your HSA to pay for qualified medical, dental and vision expenses, such as doctor visits, prescriptions and hospital visits, or you can save the money for a future need – even retirement.
We help you prepare for life after your career by offering an excellent mandatory retirement plan, which includes employee and employer contributions. State employees hired on a permanent part time basis, who have attained the age of 18, may exercise their option to begin immediate participation in the plan.
In addition, employees may participate in the Deferred Compensation Program. Employees may request the State defer payment of a portion of their income to a later date. Deferred Compensation is available to any employee and can be started and stopped at any time.
Sometimes a personal or work-related problem can impair job performance. Employees may seek confidential, professional help through the Employee Assistance Program at no charge if your hiring Agency has chosen to participate.
State employees can take advantage of the Employee Discount Program. The discounts can cover anything from wireless plans to event tickets to health and wellness.
State employees may become a member of the Nebraska State Employees Credit Union. Some services offered include checking and savings accounts and loans.
