Iowa City VA Health Care System Kidney Transplant Program
When patients discover their renal disease has reached the point where kidney transplant surgery becomes a possibility, they need accurate information, as well as the highest quality of care. The Iowa City VA Health Care System is committed to providing excellence in medical care to veterans. The VA Iowa City Health Care System Kidney Transplant Program, in cooperation with the University of Iowa College of Medicine, has provided this high level of care since 1969. To date, there have been over 2,500 kidney transplants performed in this cooperative VAICHCS/University of Iowa program. This website is intended to provide potential kidney transplant recipients, donors, and family members with some basic information about kidney transplantation and about the VAICHCS/University of Iowa Transplant Program. Our goal is to dispel myths, calm fears, and encourage living donor transplantation. The information provided in this website is not intended as a substitute for professional medical advice or professional health care. Only your physician can diagnose and treat a medical condition. |
