Retirement savingsLLNS group insurance coverage is one of the most important protections you and your family have. We are doing everything we can to control the cost of health insurance and protect the coverage you and your family are eligible for.

The DOE/NNSA is requiring all contractors to verify dependent eligibility for health and welfare plans (i.e. medical, dental, vision). A random sampling of employees will periodically receive a letter advising them that they have been selected for audit of dependent eligibility for the medical, dental, vision and legal plans and must submit documentation verifying eligibility. Only those employees who are selected for audit are required to submit verification of eligible dependents.

If you are found to be covering an ineligible dependent as part of the audit, the penalty is:

  • Your ineligible dependent will be permanently dropped from coverage
  • You and any remaining eligible dependents will be dropped from coverage for a 12-month period. You will be able to continue your LLNS coverage(s) under a COBRA-like program for this 12-month period where you pay the full COBRA rate for medical, dental, and or vision.

Failure to respond to an audit letter or failure to provide the required documentation when requested will also result in the 12-month de-enrollment penalty.
