U.S. Army South to host Hispanic Heritage Month Observation

JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-FORT SAM HOUSTON, Texas – U.S. Army South is hosting a Hispanic Heritage Month observation at the historic JBSA-Fort Sam Houston Theater Friday, Sept. 16 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The Honorable Alberto Gonzales, former U.S. Attorney General, is the keynote speaker. There will also be live entertainment and cultural food sampling. The event is free and open to all DoD ID card holders. Media Advisory: Media are invited to cover the event Friday and should contact Army South Public Affairs by noon Thursday, Sept. 15 at 210-295-6739. There will be an opportunity to interview the Honorable Alberto Gonzales immediately following the event. We will meet at the Visitors Center next to the Harry Wurzbach gate at 11:00 a.m. Friday, Sept. 16. (Turn left at traffic light in front of Wurzbach gate).

“Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl's medical status has changed from inpatient care at Brooke Army Medical Center to continued reintegration and medical care as an outpatient on Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston. His reintegration process continues with exposure to more people and a gradual increase of social interactions. Debriefings and counseling from Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape (SERE) psychologists continue to ensure he progresses to the point where he can return to duty.
