Welcome to the Coordination of Benefits (COB) Web Portal

The Coordination of Benefits (COB) Contractor consolidates the activities that support the collection, management, and reporting of other insurance coverage for Medicare beneficiaries. The purposes of the COB program are to identify the health benefits available to a Medicare beneficiary and to coordinate the payment process to prevent mistaken payment of Medicare benefits. The COB Contractor does not process claims, nor does it handle any mistaken payment recoveries or claims specific inquiries. The Medicare intermediaries and carriers are responsible for processing claims submitted for primary or secondary payment. The following web site is used as a means to collect information that supports the COB efforts.

Electronic Correspondence System (ECS)

The ECS site allows Medicare Contractors, Part D, Medicare Advantage (MA), and Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug (MAPD) plans to submit requests to update Medicare Alternate Payer (MSP) or create a new MSP occurrence in the common working file for submission of Common Working File (CWF) Assistance requests, MSP Inquiry requests, and Prescription Drug coverage requests. Additionally, Account Managers and Account Designees may review the status of current requests or review information related to historical requests.
