Welcome to SCHAN

SCHAN is an interactive web-based tool linking state and local health departments and medical personnel during preparations for and responses to emergency situations. SCHAN is used for routine communication and to send health alerts/advisories.

Access to SCHAN is provided to authorized users only and requires a username and password. Users can receive alerts from the South Carolina Department of Health’s HAN system via email, fax, telephone, and pager. Alerts can also be accessed from the SCHAN portal.

Authorized SCHAN users include public health officials, physicians, nurses, key hospital staff (administration, chief nurse executive, chief of staff physician, emergency preparedness coordinator, emergency room, infection control practitioner, laboratory, pharmacy, public information officer), school nurses, behavioral health, emergency managers, nursing homes/assisted living facilities, federal partners, and other external partners with a public health interest.

If you would like to participate in SCHAN, please email a request to schan@dhec.sc.gov with your name, job title, employer, office mailing address, work phone number, fax number and email address.
