Prescribing Opioids to Treat Pain in Injured Workers

 

Improve the care of injured workers and help save lives by using the best practices in the following guidelines:

L&I has adopted rules that support key concepts in the department's opioid guidelines and to ensure consistency with the Department of Health's pain management rules. The rules describe specific prior authorization requirements for the payment of opioids.

 

In partnership with the Department of Health and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the department developed an opioid prescribing report to help inform providers of their opioid prescribing practice as part of an ongoing effort to ensure safe and effective care for injured workers.
